All birth flowers & meanings are thought to have been brought about in Roman times and as such were chosen as garden flowers, some of which work as cut flowers better than others. This is the case for the month of October which has the birth flowers of Marigolds & Cosmos.
Whilst Cosmos do well as a cut flower, they are rarely found in the floristry industry and the short chunky stem of the Marigold mean that it does not work well as a cut flower.
