How to PLAN your ‘Wedding Flowers’ complete with CHECKLIST

When it comes to WEDDING PLANNING flowers tend to get left until last for a variety of reasons, but it is always a good idea to find and book your ‘Florist of Choice’ as soon as possible – you will find that it is a great weight off your mind and then you can think in more detail about your flowers at a later date when things start coming together in your head.

‘Planning a Wedding’ is a JOURNEY. . . and there will be a few changes along the way!

Don’t expect to get everything sorted at once, and don’t worry if you come up against a problem along the way – there is usually a better option ‘just around the corner’, quite often something that makes your wedding special and individual to you . . . just keep taking one step at a time and

                                                                                                                    TRUST IN THE PROCESS.

‘Play the game’

So, florist booked, in your ‘down’ time it is fun to ‘play the game’. Some people have folders or a book and make a real project of their wedding planning . . . makes a fabulous keepsake and wonderful heirloom!

Another good idea is to ‘save the pics’ that get your attention on the Internet, Pinterest or wherever.  Eventually you will need to trim out a few and this will be a good time to identify your favoured

                                Style   . . .    'Colour'  . . . .   FLOWERS!

STYLE

Is your head turned by -;

  • A natural style with plenty of foliage and a variety of flowers?
  • A formal style with less or no foliage and less variety - if any?
  • A combo of the above?

Colour

You may have already thought about colour in other aspects of your wedding.

For example, if you have already chosen a more neutral colour for the bridesmaids dresses

‘The Sky is the Limit’ when it comes to flowers.

Whereas more colour specific ‘attire’ will dictate your floral choices to a certain extent . . . and you don’t want the flowers to get lost on the dresses!                                                             Sometimes it is helpful to think about ‘the photographs’.

FLOWERS

There is a reason that roses are so popular for weddings – they are a feature flower that pack an IMPACTFUL punch . . .

.                                                                                . . . . and although roses do love water they still stand up relatively well to the demands of the day.

If you decide to go for the more whimsical ‘wild flower’ look that is so pretty, you will need to be aware that they are not going to hold up so well.

Marketing photography, online or in glossy magazines, will often use particular favourites such as Sweetpeas or Tulips,

                                                                                                                                   - beautiful as they are, they are delicate flowers that do not hold up well out of water.

Make a note, or save a pic 😉, of flowers that appeal to you. . .

                                       . . .     ‘Talk to your Florist’

. . . at the end of the day it is your decision, just make sure that you have all the facts to make the right decision for you.

If at any stage you start to feel overwhelmed CONTACT YOUR FLORIST!

Choosing your flowers should be a pleasant experience not a worry.

‘Your florist’ is an expert because they have had a lot of experience in the industry.

Your florist is a PROFESSIONAL and will be able to help you find something that you absolutely love, even if you don’t know yourself.

The Consultation

So, ‘you’ve played the game’, and you’ve now decided that it’s time to get down to the nitty gritty and your appointment is booked with your florist

– what ever you do, don’t worry about 'Your Wedding Consultation'                                                                                                                                                                                           .  Remember, wedding planning is a journey, this is just the next part of your journey.

What you can expect . . .

. . . your florist will want to ask you one or two questions to find out

what you have already organised,

how you see your wedding day,

and if you already have any fixed ideas about your flowers, or not.

After a brief discussion your florist will have a checklist that you will go through together -;

  • SENSATIONAL...WOW...JUST WOW!!!! VERY last minute online order, the night before Christmas Eve to pick them up actually on Christmas Eve... The flowers are so fresh it is beyond belief...perfectly and, lovingly arranged...Aw they are something else. I cannot speak or recommend 'Flowers Nicole' highly enough.

    - Lee Griffin, December 2023

  • I saw the Purple Moon bouquet online and expressed my interest but after seeing it in person I was stunned, such beautiful flowers! Made the perfect gift for my mother, she adored them. Very happy with my purchase!

    - Imogen Lancaster, November 2023

  • Ordered flowers online for delivery and they were absolutely beautiful! Well presented, excellent quality and prompt delivery. Very happy and would use again!

    - Sonny Beglarian, February 2022

  • After weighing up several options we decided to go with Flowers by Nicole for our wedding. Nicole really understood what we were looking for and was so flexible with our requirements. She made us feel comfortable, knowledgeable about what we wanted and was very friendly and supportive... and despite Lily of the Valley being out of season Nicole was able to source these for us. She provided great ideas of which flowers would work well with these, but also fit our purple colour scheme... and they looked amazing... truly stunning.
