HOW can I be ‘involved’ in the FLOWER ARRANGEMENTS for my wedding?
Some of us are more ‘in touch’ with our creative side than others. For some people one of the most exciting parts of the wedding planning is the anticipation of ‘getting involved’!
If that’s what ‘makes your wedding special to you’ then ‘go for it’ . . . - but KNOW and SET your BOUNDARIES.
“Ask yourself . . . what are my priorities?”
. . . and then list them, they may go something like this -;
- To have a lovely wedding
- For all my guests to have a lovely time
- For ‘everyone’ to be happy
. . . the common denominator here is ‘people, people and people’.

So for all of the above to come true, PEOPLE have to be factored in to the equation!
HOT TIP – you can’t be ‘efficient’ with people, nine times out of ten it will go wrong.
When it come’s to people you can – Be EFFECTIVE.

Being ‘effective’ requires more of your time and attention.
Having established your priorities . . . and the people factor – you need to be COMPLETELY ready for your wedding THE DAY BEFORE your wedding!
CHECK!
Find out from your VENUE what the possibilities are and when they will allow you in.
Work out how much you can do beforehand and take with you.
Remember to factor in ‘space’ if you have to transport everything yourself – or ARRANGE DELIVERY.
And remember TOOLS.
Finally, decide which aspects of your wedding flowers you really would like to do yourself and where you would ‘really like some help’. Whatever you do ‘DON’T OVERLOAD YOURSELF’ – it will spoil everything!
One idea is to have a ‘Floral Workshop Wedding Party’ – the day BEFORE your wedding! The morning of your wedding is an absolute No No.
The ‘Order’ of Your Wedding Day Morning
Relaxing, getting pampered, ENJOYING the company of the people that you have ‘chosen to be with you’ at this very special time . . . and getting those precious ‘wedding prep photographs’- that is the order of your wedding day morning!

FLORAL WORKSHOP WEDDING PARTY
A floral workshop wedding party would need to be held at your venue the day before your wedding. A couple of hours, or HALF A DAY maximum would be good amount of time to allow (depending on what you want to achieve – ‘plenty of time to have some fun’, but with a finish line so that it doesn’t drag on. Ideally you would STAY OVER THAT NIGHT ready for your wedding the next day.

PREPARATION for the WORKSHOP!
- check with the venue
- identify who would be participating
- decide on containers
- agree on your floral selection
CONTAINERS

Smaller vases or ‘jam jars’ work really well and can be DOTTED AROUND the VENUE and look really pretty, complimenting your grander displays and ‘spreading the love’. . . this is really easily achievable and a lot of fun!
All the ‘short stemmed’ flowers can be used and flowers on different levels give a very SUMPTUOUS FEEL, they add depth and look very ‘aesthetically pleasing’.
A floral workshop wedding party is an excellent way to wind down after all the rushing around, and perfect BONDING TIME as people start to mix and get chatting before the main event. It ‘builds anticipation’ and a feeling of being a part of something very special -
The ‘key’ is to KEEP IT SIMPLE. .jpg?ver=7671)

If you are more experienced with flowers you may feel ‘tempted to take on more’, but be careful.
. . . flowers have to be prepared shortly before the event . . .
- by which time people will be arriving, ‘contacting you to confirm the directions that you have already so carefully prepared for them’ and generally LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING YOU and joining the excitement . . . and preparations!
Full involvement!
If you have DECIDED that you really want to ‘throw yourself in’ at the deep end and be ‘thoroughly involved’ with your event décor, you may wish to consider enlisting the support a professional on an hourly basis just to give you some ‘back-up’.
What ever you decide the main thing to consider will be the ‘time-factor’. Your ‘joy will quickly turn to stress’ if you start to run short of time!
Make a plan,
- do as much as you can ahead of time,
- allow yourself a ‘certain amount of time’ for each arrangement,
- . . . and DOUBLE IT – because things never go to plan!
- HAVE FUN 😊x
